Aredia (Pamidronate)

Aredia is a substance that causes deposition of calcium into the bones. Calcium is the most important mineral element of bones. This drug has a variety of indications in cancer patients:

This is rather well tolerated medicine. It is given by intravenous route and can be used with a variety of schedules:

  • Aredia is given as a 24 hours continuos intravenous infusion for treatment of High Calcium levels. It takes a few days to see full effect of Aredia on the blood Calcium level.

  • When used to treat bone lesions in cancers, it is given as an intravenous infusion over few hours every four weeks.
