CANCER RESEARCH
Art therapy has gradually become an integral part of supportive cancer care, underscoring the fact that the creative process of art making as well as art appreciation contributes to well being of cancer patients. This has resulted in formation of the profession of art therapy, which is an important method of communication, assessment, and treatment for children and adults with various chronic illnesses.
Dr. Tirgan has always incorporated his interest in creative art, as well as his own art into his medical practice. His office in New Jersey for a long time hosted many of his photographic art pieces. Some of Dr. Tirgan's photographs have been freely donated and published in journal of "The Oncologist". For the first time, Dr. Tirgan is providing his art for sale to support cancer research. Several of his art are being sold here for support of charitable cancer research organizations such as American Cancer Society. All of the artworks displayed here have been created by Dr. Tirgan and are individually signed by him. His art is created through the eyes and visions of a caring physician who has taken care of hundreds of cancer patients. His art is created with having his cancer patient's recovery in mind and at heart. Dr. Tirgan's art brings upon sense of calm and serenity in the viewer. This is of most importance to cancer patients. Dr. Tirgan hopes for his art work to reach hospitals, cancer clinics, and private oncology practices as well as the homes of cancer patients.
Progress in cancer, as opposed to other areas of medicine, has been steady yet very slow. With very rare exceptions (Gleevec), each new drug that arrives to the market, adds only very little to the overall outcome of cancer patients. We are still far from curing cancers. We still have a long way to go to. This path requires support from all of us. Every Dollar donated to cancer research will bring us, a tinny bit closer to curing cancer.
