BiCNU (Carmustine) BiCNU is one of the older chemotherapy drugs which has been around and in use for many years. BiCNU is a white powder, dissolved in an alcohol based, colorless solution, and is given by intravenous route only. It has to be mixed in a high volume of solution, otherwise can cause pain in the arm, if it is given in an arm vein, and also damage to the veins. It is most commonly used in treatment of the following cancers: The type and extent of a cancer will determine the method and schedule of administration of this drug. This decision is made by the medical oncologist. BiCNU is normally given once, every 6-8 weeks.
