CAF

There are three drugs in this regimen, Cytoxan, Adriamycin and 5-FU, all of which are administered intravenously.

Dosage administration schedule

All three drugs are given in one session and the cycle is repeated in three to four weeks, as soon as patient recovers from the side effects.

FAC

Another variant of the above regimen is called the FAC regimen in which 5-FU is given twice on Day 1 and Day 8 of a cycle. This regimen is repeated every four weeks and exhibits the same side effects as CAF regimen.

M2 is the body surface area which represents the square footage of a patient's body surface. This is measured by the height and weight of the patient.

The most significant t side effects of these regimes are: 

• Low white blood cell count

• Anemia

• Low platelet count

• Hair loss

• Heart problems

• Menstrual changes
