Cyclosporine

Cyclosporine is a medicine that suppresses the immune system.  It is most commonly used in patients who undergo some form of transplantation.  This can be organ transplantation like Kidney, Heart etc, or Bone Marrow Transplantation.  In either situation, the immune system can act against the transplanted tissue and damage it.

Cyclosporine comes in both oral and injectable form and is used over a long period of time.  It is followed by measuring its concentration in blood.


Side effects:

Cyclosporine can cause many side effects among which t following are very important;

·                      Kidney damage
·                      Increase Blood Pressure
·                      Tremor 

Patients should be under close supervision of their physician while receiving Cyclosporine.
