Cost of Genetic counseling can be broken down as follows:

Physician fees: Which can vary from one office to the other. The fee for the initial visit can be higher than the subsequent visits.  Some of this cost may be covered by the insurance companies.   You should not expect for all offices to accept your insurance coverage. 

Laboratory Fees:  For performing the specific test.  This can vary from one laboratory to the other, ranging from $500.00 to a few thousand dollars, depending on the complexity of tests that may be needed. 

Treatment Options: Treatment and the recommended interventions, may or may not be covered by the insurance companies. You have to speak with the respective insurance companies for their consideration of making payments for the treatments.  Performing bilateral mastectomies may cost as much as $20,000.00.

More and more, insurance companies are accepting to pay for these costs.
