Ibuprofen

Ibuprofen is one o f the older pain medicines which has been around and in use for decades. It is as anti-inflammatory medicines which also helps in cancer pain control. It comes in tablet form and can be used every 6-8 hours. It is most appropriate for patients with bone metastasis and also those with mild pain.


Side effects:

Ibuprofen is a rather well tolerated medicine, however, it can cause any of the following problems, if used in high doses.

  • Stomach discomfort

  • Stomach ulcers

  • Coagulation problems and possible bleeding

  • Kidney damage if used in high doses and for a very long period of time.

Patients who have to take this medicine are best served by using anti ulcer medication along with Ibuprofen. It is best to take this medicine with food.
