Leukine

Leukine is a colorless liquid which is normally administered under the skin on a daily basis until the lowering white blood cell count resolves. This medicine can either be used to prevent or treat the most important side effect and complication of chemotherapy which is lowering of white blood cells. In cases of severe lowering of the blood cells, Leukine could be given at higher doses and even intravenously.

Side effects:

This drug is rather well tolerated with very few side effects. The most important one is bone pain, mostly in the back. This problem is self limiting and will resolve in a few days after the drug is discontinued.
