VIDAZA (azacitidine)

Vidaza is an intravenous drug which is given slowly through an IV infusion.  It can also be given as injection under the skin.   This drug is indicated in treatment of:

• Myelodysplastic Syndrome

Side Effects:

The degree and severity of the side effects depend on the amount and schedule of the administration of Vidaza. Following are some of the most common and significant ill effects:

• Low White blood counts

• Low Platelet count

• Anemia

• Nausea and vomiting

• Damage to kidneys

Anti-nausea medications are also used beforehand. It is imperative that patients relay any side effects or problems to his/her medical oncologist.
