Votrient (pazopanib)

Pazopanib is an anti angiogenic agent with other anti cancer efficacies as well.  The main method of action of this drug in targeting kidney cancer seems to be its anti angiogenic effect.  This drug inhibits other intracellular pathways as well.

The recommended dose of Pazopanib is 800 mg taken once daily at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Dose reductions to 400 mg may be indicated for some patients.

 

Side effects:

  • diarrhea,

  • hypertension,

  • hair color change

  • nausea, anorexia, and vomiting.

  • Increases in liver function tests levels

  • Liver Toxicity.  This drug is not recommended for patients with severe liver dysfunction.

  • Electrical conduction problems in the heart,

  • Hypertension.
