Zometa (zoledronic acid)

Zometa is a very similar drug to Aredia with one difference that it is administered over a short period of time, between 15-30 minutes as opposed to Aredia that is infused over many hours.

Like Aredia it causes deposition of calcium into the bones. Calcium is the most important mineral element of bones. This drug used for prevention and treatment of bone lesions in patients with Multiple Myeloma and Breast Cancer and patients with documented bone metastases from solid tumors, in conjunction with standard cancer therapy.
